Broken tube/cable
Broken tube/cable
I recently asked if there could've been anything wrong with my engine because it was hoisted up and slowly lowered. After checking all the connections this was the only thing I could find wrong. What is this, and how should I go about fixing it?
Re: Broken tube/cable
The cruise control module is in that location (on driver side subframe, in front of and above the sway bar bracket). It would have an electrical connector, and a plastic encased cable that runs over the top of drivers side inner fender, wraps around and attaches to the throttle body.
But the cruise module box and electrical connector orientation and number of wires seem a bit different than that picture. And there is no "elbow" at the end of the cruise control cable.

Re: Broken tube/cable
If is actually is the cruise control, just make sure the damaged cable is not restricting throttle blade movement. You wouldn't want the throttle to stick wide open.
The fact that connector only has 2 wires, and the elbow on the end of the tube still puzzles me. I can’t even compare to my 94 because cruise control and anything else in that area has long ago been deleted.

Re: Broken tube/cable
After some looking, that's my egr vacuum system. I don't know what to do with it at this point, can I get a piece to fix it back on, or does it even matter. I didn't know what an EGR delete was until just now, so would it be bad to let my engine get hotter from not having it? I want to know if I can drive my car without causing more damages.
Re: Broken tube/cable
The EGR system is nowhere near that location.

As Rob/Shoebox noted, looks like the AIR system bleed valve. AIR and EGR are two totally different/separate systems. And, the bleed valve was added as part of the AIR system recall. That recall did not apply to 1994 models, only 1995 and up.

Do you have any emissions testing - either tailpipe, visual, or PCM hookup? Deleting EGR (the system at the BACK of the engine) could be a problem with visual, may set a trouble code, and can increase tailpipe levels of NOx. The recycled exhaust gas can also minimize knock when lugging the engine in too low a gear.
AIR would be a problem with visual, codes are easy to prevent, and I'm not aware of any standard tailpipe test the runs the engine from a cold start. AIR is only used for three minutes at startup.
I think on a 94, without the AIR recall, that little plastic "tee" is open to the atmosphere. I have my complete AIR system complete somewhere in my garage.... I'll see if I can find it.
If you have to start the engine, just make sure no exhaust is coming out of the white plastic tee where the nipple broke off. If necessary, cap it to prevent a leak and tape it up temporarily.

Re: Broken tube/cable
It's part of the AIR system (the smog thing) thank you for looking, but I went to home depot and shoved this in it with teflon and epoxy. It all fits together and It shouldn't ever break. (hopefully)
