you are refering to the G2 cai...right...

if you are, than stay away from it!! it will flow more than stock but it really isn't much of an actual cold air induction. i have it and have heavily modified it. i ended up cutting the whole face off the air box just so that ti wasn't restrictive.

i find it hard to beleive that your friend sucked that much water into his engine. unless he had some of the shrouding under the car removed.

just get a good cai like morroso or k&n and be carefull in puddles, go slow and you'll be fine. the G2 isn't worth the price.

Yeah, the G2 isn't worth the price, compared to the others mentioned, but i think it is designed to be legal in certain classes of racing, which is why it is like it is.

My car is very low, and with my K&N I dont see how you could hydrolock unless it was a serious flood, not a puddle.

I have an underscoop on on my Morosso cold air set up and been through some hellish storms. Not a drop of water in the filter.
G2 isnt worth the money and will not give you the performance kn, slp, or morosso will.

if you want to match the performance of the G2 intake all you need to do is buy a K&N cone filter with a 3" inlet hole and clamp that in place of your air box. that is basically what the G2 does only it doesn't use a cone filter, it just isn't worth the money.
