Automatic Headlight sensor problem

Hey guys I jus got my 1995 formula a couple months ago. Its been in storage since i got it. but i noticed that sometiems the headlights even come on in the day light and sometiems they dont. I dont know if the sensor is tripping out or what. What is the easiest way to just stop the whole automatic headlight crap all together. pop up headlights arent overly attractive so i dont want them up anymore than they have to be. Can I just cut the wires going to the sensor in the dash??
thanx for any help guys!!!

You can access that sensor very easily by just pulling up a little bit on the trim edge above the radio / to the rear of the sensor. Cut the wires, twist em together, and you're done. Actually, it's been a while - not sure if you have to twist em together or just elec. tape around the ends separately. I think it's twist, though.
