They claim to gain 20hp (lol) by leaning out the motor. Well, i'm running really really rich (can smell it, getting ****ty milage) and want to know if a setup like this would help me out any or if it was dangerous to control the a/f like this? thanks

No, don't do it the ghetto way. Do it properly and have someone burn you a chip for your ECM.

You can try a fuel pressure regulator, but you have no idea what AF your moving yourself to by playing with the injectors that way.

You sure you dont just have a simple exaust leak?

well I installed the exhaust about a month ago, I guess I can check all the bolts again? I don't see how that would make it run rich tho

well having only 2 mods I think it would be a waste to get a chip already, because as soon as I do something else I'll need a new one. I don't have the cash to do it once, much less every time I manage to save enough for a mod

I was running rich.

I used an adjustable fuel pressure regulator, bigger TB, and ACCEL ignition to lean myself out.

Also a 93.

if you have an exhaust leak before the pre-cat o2 sensors, the sensor would read lean and try to richen the mixture.

so it would be the manifolds/y pipe?

If your O2s see more O2 than they are supposed to, they will add more fuel because the computer thinks your "lean." If you messed around with the Y pipe at all this is a possibility.

If your 93 is the same as my 94, which I believe is correct, you have one O2 in the Y pipe (left, drv side) and one in the exaust manifold on the pass side (right).

ok, the chips on ebay are a 4.7k resistor right? it goes in the IAT to make it think its 50 outside. On a 93 you can play w/ the fuel regulator to lean it out. Just remember to by a 93 specific reg.(its like the one on a vette). On newer models they will slowly compensate for the higher or lower psi you give it, the 93 will not.
Other hints are, change your plugs/wires, change/clean your air filter.

dont waste your money on that scam, its not a chip, its a 5 cent resistor....do like others said, a basic tuneup will do wonders...

What did you set the pressure to? And when you do set it, doesnt the PCM set it to where it thinks it needs to be?

Hey Kev,

I'm having the same problem in my 93Z of it running rich. I'm probably going to do what most people are suggesting here. When I get my Jet-Hot's and put them in I'll be swapping out the O2's, plugs, wires, AFPR and getting my car scanned from someone to check if everythings in running order. I understand that getting it tuned is an expensive option (150 from PCMforless and 300ish from a dyno tuner). However with all that I'm doing, if it doesn't fix my running rich problem, I will end up paying the big bucks to get it tuned right.
