will you get a little black smoke with out cats ??

like if you give it alot of gas or if when you warm it up u rev it up not alot of smoke just a little is that normal if so that was one of the jobs of the cat conv huh??

My car runs real rich due to the fact it thinks it has knock. So I get black smoke from that. But from what I hear a little puff is normal, and shouldn't be a cause for concern. Make sure you got oil pressure before you rev it.


hey I would rather have black than any other color.

You will get smoke from the unburned HC's present in the exhaust. The catalyst would normally oxidize them. How much you get depends on your state of tune and your A/F ratios. BTW, you will also have plenty of CO and NOx in the exhaust, but they won't be visible.

I have sat behind guys at stop lights with stroker motors and !cat they smoked some.
