17x9.5 zr1 rims..spacers? lowering springs?

i just got a set of the triple crome plated zr1 rims 17x9.5 , one of my buddies said i might need spacers to keep them from rubbing the wheel well when they are turned.. is this true?? also i was looking at edibach springs to lower my car b/c of the incresed wheel size, the kits claim 1.5-3" of drop, if anybody has done this in my situation your comments and suggestions would be much appreciated! thanks!

You do not need spacers for those wheels. 275/40/17 tires will work just fine. I would go with Eibach ProKit, which drops the car 1.25/1.25 and will look good. The Eibach Sportlines are even lower at 1.75/1.75. Looks more aggresive, but is real low. Check my pics.

I'm running the 17X9.5 '96 Grand Sport wheels--which are basically ZR1 wheels painted black. I get a bit of rubbing in the REAR on my very steep, sharply angled driveway. I've heard that can be fixed by upgrading to a better panhard rod. Other than that, no rubbing at all.

However, I did have to take my Dremel to the "hub hole"??? because it was just a tad too tight to actually go on all the way.

No spacers.
