Just finished cam install! XE 230/236

All I can say is WOW! I like the cam alot. I am running it with a 355 c.i. motor, ported heads (255/191 @.600") longtubes, 52mm throttle body, electric water pump, and all the other bolt ons. Great cam! I switched from a cc305. I like the powerband. I am running on the stock tune right now, but it is not bad at all. What numbers is everyone else making with this cam?

That's not more than what I got with my HotCam.
I have the 230/236 on 111LSA already installed. I'm just waiting on my heads right now. After the install it's going on the dyno to get some dyno tune time done to it. We will see than what the capablilities is going to be on this cam.

real quick i think your horsepower suffers because of the LSA. There is a post on LSA and Mindgame had a clip out of a article saying on most of the off the shelf cam grinds the LSA is a little wider than optimal to make for a good street car driveabilty. Since yours is even wider yet i think that is costing you some power. I was going to go with a 114 but i read that and decided on a 112 i will just have to come up with a way to pass emissions some how if they ever show up.

A 114 LSA cam may not be as good as a 112 or 110 LSA on motor but a 114 is better for juice.

you are right about the lsa factor but its not near 50 hp loss. i read some where the a 2 degree change from lets 114 lsa to 112 will yeild 6 to 7 hp but nowhere near 50. its his heads. and im affraid im going to run into the same problem, because im doing my own as we speak.

and the peak hp difference my be 6 to 7 hp diference, it will also be reach at a bit high rpm level.

and if he decides to spray that cam will work quite abit better being on a 114 lsa instead of a 110.

real qiuk did you flow the heads if so what are the flow numbers.

I am interested in hearing about this cam. I have it sitting in my garage and after this weekend's SLP day, then I will start to tear the car down.

I think I have decided to have Lloyd Elliot port my heads for me, since I just really don't have the time to do so myself.

I sure would like to see 375rwhp out of my setup.

here is the link to the thread.
http://web.camaross.com/forums/showt...obe+separation
and here is the quote from mind game.

"There is a graph showing 3 different cams, one is 'optimal' at 108º another is at 106º and the last is at 110º. The torque peak is about 380 with both the 106 and 108 LCA cams and about 360 ft.lbs with the 110 LCA. The hp peak for 106 and 108 are also almost identical at a 6k peak just shy of 360 hp with the 110 cam just shy of 340.

Just some stuff to ponder.

-Mindgame"

His heads could also be costing him. That is why phil is doing mine. I would look towards phil or llloyd they know what they are doing and do offer some cheaper heads. I first thought phil only did big expensive heads but he will do econoports that flow 250-260 ish for 1000 plus cores. That is new valve's, springs and junk, and all the machining not to bad.
