oil pickup screen tube size?

What size is the oil pump pickup screen tube on a stock oil pump for 1995 z28 LT1? 5/8 or 3/4?

Reason for asking I want to replace the pump with a melling 10554.
It appears the 10554 uses a 3/4 tube for the inlet.

Can I use the stock p/u tube with a melling 10544 pump?

Re: oil pickup screen tube size?

Ive heard GM used both sizes on there pumps for a year or 2. I know if you go order a stock replacement oil pump at AutoZone the guy behind the counter will ask you "if you want the 3/4 or the 5/8 inlet?" My melling High Vol pump as well as the Melling Performance series High pressure pump (standard vol) both use 3/4.

It should be 3/4". They changed during the 1994 model year.

Yes you can use the stock 3/4" pickup.

It really does not matter if you have a 5/8 now. I don't recommend you reuse a pickup, anyway.
