Was driving in the snow today, trying to stop with the Stupid ABS and the module under the hood fried itself, no so ASR or ABS and all dash lights on but the brake still work fine, Took it to be diagnosed,

he said since the module was getting power but the whole system was dead meant in was definitly the ABS module under the hood, quoted $350 to replace Module with used part,

I see you can get these parts for under $100 on ebay but you have to have a tech1 scanner to bleed the system and replace the module so...

Car has 85,000 miles So I figure I'll just drive it without ABS or ASR for now. Maybe if I have the money have it fixed in a couple months and maybe get a whole brake job while at it.

Can I just get an ABS delete kit, install it myself and get the dahs lights to go away?

 

UPDATE: I drove in the rain Last night, after about 30 seconds of starting out in the rain the ABS/ASR system came back on. I hit the gas on the wet road, and ASR worked normal. no Dash lights, working fine for a day now, glad I didnt comit to fixing it but apparently the Diagnous was wrong so $38 thrown away on that.

So take a lesson, if you have a non urgent problem like this dont take it off to the shop asap, give it a few days to work itself out, II still dont know why it happened it the first place, if it happens again I'm going to hav ethe wiring and sensors checked out and cleaned,

 

Check your ground for the module.

 

Thats typical of some garages- just throw parts at a problem and assume it will fix it.

 

yeah, i need to try to check some of the wiring myself, I had the lights come back on breiflly today, acting like a loose connection somewhere, the ground would be a good place to start,
