Brake Lights Out

Hi. My name is Chris, longtime passenger, first time car owner. About a year ago my girlfriend and I ownership of a nice '94 Camaro: 3.4L and low mileage for its age: 140,000 currently. Anyway, yesterday my brake lights went out. I'm pretty sure I know what the issue is. I think it may be the switch, as the fuse is good and all the brake lights are out. However, reading through the repair manual, it says to test to see if it's getting power, but it doesn't explain how to properly test it. I have a mulit-meter, but its been a long time since I used one, and never on electrical components in a car. I was wondering if anyone could be so kind and give me some pointers before I go digging under there again? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance.

Re: Brake Lights Out

Does the center mounted high brake light (CHMSL) still work? That is supplied by a slightly different path than the brake lights in the tail light assemblies. It runs off the same fuse, then to different contacts on the pedal switch, and directly to the CHMSL lamp.

If all the brake lights do not work, you have to look at the switch and the fuse (check continuity across the fuse - my look OK, but still be burned out). If the CHMSL works, but not the tail lights, could be a contact in the pedal switch, then it runs to the hazzard and turn signal assembly, where is gets pretty complicated.

See Shoebox's diagram. 94 may have minor differences, possibly a different fuse number:
