I was on thunderracing and noticed this one:

Comp Cams "304" LT1 Camshaft, 210 / 220, .500 / .510 114 LSA, Mild cam, great for daily drivers or emissions sensitive applications. Will work with stock computer tuning.


I only drive my car in the summer and its about a dozen times. Don't really do the track. I want a cam thats very mild and you don't notice persay when idling...or at least not that bad. I want something that'll give me a decent HP like an extra 20 horses. I don't want something thats going to risk blowing up my engine.

You can see my mods done in my signature. Including replacing my roller rockers already to a 1.6 lift. So this should be takin into consideration. Any advice? How many horses could I see? Any other recommendations? Thanks!

I always say this but you could get a custom grind. Tell the grinder everything you want and they'll make it specifically for your car. That way you don't have any compromises of using a shelf grind.

I used Ed Curtis at http://www.flowtechinduction.com/ Took about a month to have the cam made. It was $335 to my door. Ed is very nice and is very quick at responding to questions.

 

Thanks, although I don't know much about cams to give him specifications. I just know I want one I wouldn't install it either, but have it done for me. I'm guessing its rather difficult

I found that installing the cam myself was an invaluable learning experience.

 

Custom grind for a near stock car seems too much....

of course if you have the money to throw at it then suure why not, but still...

 

The crane 227 would work well if you can find it

 

Lingenfelter has a couple nice little cams. The CC 502 would fit nicely too.

 

But would all of these suggestions work fine with my 1.6 rockers?

 

Of course.

 

On Llyod Elliots site (elliottsportworks.com) there is a 218/224 .544/.544 111 LSA. - 1500-6000 RPM which would work great for your wants/needs. You will hear a tiny bit of lope at idle and really pick up some power under the curve.

Advanced Induction (them and LE compete for the top LT1 porting shop) also offers cams that are very similar. I would get a cam from one of these two places, they will cost another 100bux from something off the shelf but you can also have it custom tailored to your wants/needs.


So if you want to bring up the LSA to 114 for better idle and a lower peak HP point you can. Or make changes to lift or duration.

 

Ok cool. I'm just assuming since I have every other bolt on mod, a CAM should be my next upgrade. Can I expect what... 20-30 horses from that?
