Total cost to perform LE2

Just wondering how much it would really cost. I know the heads/cam combo would run around $1,600. I already have a MadZTune but it's for a bolt ons only car so I would have to talk to him about getting it reprogrammed. Then the cost of gaskets, head bolts, gaskets, possibly injectors and what size ? Fuel pressure regulator, I already have a racetronix fuel pump, etc. Can anybody give me a complete run down ? I would greatly appreciate it. Thanks

If you are planning more than 400HP at the flywheel, the stock injectors are too small. For injector size, 36's will comfortably handle 500HP at the flywheel, normally aspirated. No reason to get a new fuel pressure regulator.

You're going to need a cold air intake, a good set of headers and duals or high quality catback exhaust, a larger throttle body. Timing set may need to be replaced.

They have 32 then 37. Would the 32 be enough as I'm going to run an emission cam. I have full length headers, intake, etc.

rockers, pushrods, rocker studs, head bolts just a few things you missed.

Yeah I know, trying to get something together soon to figure out cost. I have 125,000 on the motor and a ticking lifter so I thought I would go ahead and do h/c then when it goes I'll have that out of the way so I can worry about rebuilding the block.

I spent way more than I thought I would. It really is a slippery slope.

Ditto that.

I was just doing a rocker/cam swap too. The way I approached it was to replace some things while I had the engine apart(water pump, opti, old hoses). That really drove up the cost. I didn't plan on doing that at the start, but it should save some maintenance headaches in the future. It roughly doubled the cost that I had planned.

Yeah I was about to do just a "cam swap".
Here's what I bought

185 cc heads $800 (This forum)
manifold $225 LE porting (Lloyd Elliot)
injectors, 42# $290 (new era performance)
Ls7 lifters $130 (Jegs)
LPP stainless headers and y-pipe $600 (LPP)
gaskets for everything )manifold, headers, head gaskets, valve cover $200 (Summit)
plug wires (Taylor 8.8mm), coil, msd 6al, new NGK plugs $350 (Thunder Racing and this forum)
timing set $55 used (This forum)
will get pushrods once measured $70 or so (Jegs or Summit)
Comp Cams pro magnum rockers $300 (Ed Curtis aka Flowtech)
PAC 1518 springs $290 (Ed Curtis aka Flowtech)
titanium retainers (came in package not sure on price Ed Curtis aka Flowtech)
custom grind cam $335 (Ed Curtis aka Flowtech)
tune $500+ (Clayton Racing Engines, Bartlett, IL)
new valve covers to clear the rockers $100 (Ebay)
water pump $60 (O'Reileys)
UMI EGR block off plates $20 (Thunder Racing)
ARP Head bolts $66 (Summit)

= $4391

I'm sure I forgot a lot too

this is just adding to a 52 mm tb, cai, 255 walbro pump, holley adjustable fuel pressure regulator, LCAs, UMI Torque Arm, UMI SFCs, Borla Catback, and headers I will eventually toss. So yeah, its not cheap.

Here's an idea of how much stuff I needed.

Because it gives you ls7 performance at 1/50 of the cost!

That doesn't really tell me anything. Are they lighter? Better construction? Better rollers? What is it that I should buy them over the stock lt1 lifters. Because just changing the lifters don't equate to better performance.

I think they are cheaper than the LT1 sets.

If that's it then I'll just use the lifters I have now.

Its because GM doesn't make LT1 stock lifters now or something like that.

LS7 lifters are perfectly reliable (hence they are used in the ls7 engine) and they are the only part that can be used in an lt1 and ls1 engine. Plus they are pretty cheap, $140 for a set at summit i think?
