rtv thermostat gasket??

rtv thermostat gasket??

ok when i installed my thermostat i put a layer of the right stuff on the machined surface of the wp and a little bit on the the thermostat cap. im thinking about it now and im wondering if it was a bad idea? do you guys think it could hurt anything or is it supposed to be done like this?

The thermostat has its own gasket - the rubber ring around the outside edge. Nothing else needed.

just to assure you, i did on mine, because I HATE leaks, and no problems yet.

It's not good if RTV gets in the cooling system. Like Injuneer said, no sealant needed.

I've had the same Hypertech 160* t'stat in my engine for 15 years with no sealant. It has never been a problem of any kind. Why overcomplicate things?
