should brand new lt1 hydraulic lifters be hard to compress?

should brand new lt1 hydraulic lifters be hard to compress?

ok so i bought some new comp cams lifter from summit and the plunger wont compress at all...i tried to compress it with a pushrod and i couldn't....i called tech and they said after they soak in oil it will compress...is this true or should i and have them exchanged?

I would send them back and get the LS7 lifters.

Usually, lifters without oil will compress a little. Agreed on getting the LS7 lifters.

So, not hi-jack this thread but will the LS-7's just drop in like the lt1 lifters?

I'm changing mine out as well and all the negativity on the comp's makin' look for the GMPP's which are damn near impossible to find

the lifter is pumped up, use a bench vise and a bolt to slowly compress it and drain the oil out. Be careful and don't try to go past the bottom out point.

well its not only 1 lifter...its all 16 of them..... i cant compress any of them....and machinist would you reccomend the ls7 lifters also? i really dont wanna switch because i have laready checked my pr lenght and ordered custom hardened pushrods
