86 kpa @ idle w/ gm847?

i just got my car back together w/ the new motor, and im trying to get it to idle.its only pulling 86 kpa @ idle w/ the 847 cam, that cant be normal, right? im thinking maybe a intake valve is a lil tight or the timing in those cells is so far off its throwing off the vacuum.any ideas? tps is 0% @ idle, iac is pegged @160

ive decided its not right.vacuum gauge is bouncing pretty bad,so im thinking it has a tight intake valve.it sounds ok when it runs, i cant hear it poping out the intake.ill double check the plug wires to make sure they arnt crossed and then pop the valve covers.arrrgh.im ready for this thing to run.

Lol is that even possible? 86kpa is atmospheric pressure here. Check the map sensor connection and throw a vacuum gauge on there to double check.

Atmospheric pressure in Chicago is going to be closer to 100kPa. But 86kPa at idle is not correct, even with the 847. At the worst, I'd expect something closer to 65-70kPa, depending on the tune.

ok,thanks alot for looking at this and helping me out guys. i tweaked a few things and its now pulling 70 kpa but wont hold idle once the water temp heats up.
iac is pegged at 160 and closed tps spark vs. rpm isnt doing much to help things(tried from 27-34 around idle rpm). ive also adjusted the spark correction vs map vs rpm table but dont know what to do.at 60 kpa and 1000 rpm it was -5 deg, and at 70 kpa and 1000 rpm it was +5 deg,so i smoothed it out a little around my idle kpa and rpm and it just doesnt want to idle.

Have you checked the IAC motor to verify it is working, and that the IAC passages are not plugged up?

all the passages are spotless because i cleaned the whole thing out after i smoothed it up w/ a carbide burr.i did see the iac dip down to 130 briefly, and the tps reads like .63 volts in datamaster at idle.

The counts just tell you what position the PCM wants the IAC motor to take. There is no feedback as to the actual position.

ok, big news. i found a plug wire had been ripped off the opti on the pass. side.i put it back on, and now car idles perfectly, 104 iac 0% tps ect. but its now pulling 80 kpa, so i must have a tight valve maybe even on the cyl that had the plug wire fall off.im going to pull the valve covers and re adjust unless one of you point out something more obvious.thaks alot everyone for your time and help.
