intake manifold bolt? stud sizes?
intake manifold bolt? stud sizes?
ok so since my intake mani is looking nice and pretty since powder coat i wanna change the ugly old bolts. i was wondering if anyone knew where i could get a stainless steel bolt kit...i called summit and they told me they dont make them..so i was wondering if anyone knew the sizes of the bolts and the studs?
I don't know of any source for a set of shiny fasteners that includes the specific odd-ball bolt/stud combinations that are part of an LT1 manifold set. If you want to make those look better, you might take them to your local plating company and inquire about the process I've heard called "irridite" or "gold wash." Fasteners treated this way will be a gold color that stands out against a painted or polished surface. I know that there's a more appropriate name for the process in the plating industry. I prefer it to stainless steel because it doesn't have the tendency to gall in aluminum threads the way stainless sometimes does. Also, it doesn't change the characteristics of the threads the way almost any kind of plating does.
For what it's worth, on race motors, I use regular ARP small block intake fasteners. They work just fine but they don't include the bolt-stud fasteners. In any case, I use a small amount of anti-seize compound on all steel threads that will be drawn down into aluminum heads to prevent nasty surprises the next time they are removed.

They don't have intake bolts listed separately, but I bet if you call they can hook you up.
