Who should I buy 18" Rims/Tires from for Quality?

Sooooo, I'm spending my tax return (in my head) already... I have a '97 SS with the original 17x9 5-spoke wheels on it. Needs tires and the finish on the wheels is horrible. Really drags down the appearance of the car which is otherwise pretty sweet.

I'd like to get chrome Z06 knockoffs, but I don't want to buy something that's going to look awful in a year. I think the last set I bought from AFS Wheels, were 17x9.5 ZR1's with black powdercoat and clear over that, and the finish started flaking off in less than 2 years. I don't drive in anything but rain, so it's not like the finish had a harsh life or environment.

So anyway this is kind of a daily driver. So it sees rain and road grime. No snow or salt.

And on a 'style' note, I'm teetering between black Z06's or Chrome. I loved my black ZR1's but maybe in my old age I need more shininess?

Plus I'm assuming 18x9's are as big as I can/should go on a daily driver? But open to opinions there.

Moved for you.

Make sure you get a wheel that not only looks good, but is tested and validated for strength and safety. A good looking wheel that fragments easily makes for a terrible looking car in the end.

Thanks Jason!

And that's a(nother) very good point... even though I'm an old boring Dad now, and the majority of my driving is in town, stoplights, to/from school... the SS does still see some winding mountain switchbacks and 'spirited driving', so structure is every bit as important to me as looks!

I also read a little more about C6 wheel swaps to the 4th gens and may go that route, if cost is reasonable.

I have Chrome C6 ZO6's 18x10.5 rears and 17x9 fronts. I love them however 18" tires are not very economical though. I daily drive my car with the 315's in the rear and its great
