Unhappy surge in gear (reverse and drive)

Ok im gonna try to make this as short as possible, since people tend to loose interest when its too long of a thread..

Anyhow, I posted a thread in the computer tuning section but no answers yet, so ill try here in hopes someones nails the problem

Anyhow, the car surges in reverse and in drive. It surges more though in reverse to the point when the rpms go down to like 400-500 and lights dim and car wants to stall.. All this happens for a quick second and then it quickly jumps back up and sits at the set idle......

If i disconnect the MAF, it wont do that ......

I already replaced it with a working MAF and is still doing the same, but once again if i unplug it, it runs like a dream

this is the only bug that ive been trying to fight for a long time...

Tuning helped.. they told me a stall would fix the problem, but why does everything work perfectly when the MAF is unplugged, and so it doesnt seem like it needs a stall at all..

Someone please help....

It has new TPS, IAC, IAT, MAF, and no vaccuum leaks that i can find, i sprayed everywhere....

As you probably know when you remove the MAF the PCM defaults to speed density mode. The first logical thing to check is the entire intake pipe from the MAF to the TB as well as the gasket behind the TB.

If that doesn't find anything, take a measurement of your vacuum level.

You may also need to monitor the fuel trims while the MAF is connected since I believe you are going lean and then back to normal. Thus the surging.

As the saying goes, 'Reading is FUNDAMENTAL", so long, details posts aren't a problem for me. Keep 'em long and detailed, the more info the better I say. Besides, I need a fork lift for my two 96 FSM's, LOL.

A stall helps in some applications, but for a HotCam, it shouldn't be needed. So something else has to be going on.

Does it do it when the trans is in Park or Neutral?

How long has this been going on? Before the HotCam install or afterwards? Recently?

ok, so if you do not mind reading, here is the original post that is in the Computer tuning section (https://www.camaroz28.com/forums/sho...d.php?t=723053)

AND well it was going on before the car was tuned but because the idle was very very low... So it was bumped up, and after that it helped but im still fighting the surge in between gears. In park and drive it idles perfect with little little lope, if i disconnect the maf it idles differently and all problems go away, so no need for a stall.. But any how i hope you understand if not please ask me questions.. THANKS for you help...
