Coolant loss
Coolant loss
I have been noticing my car has been eating coolant.I have checked for leaks and cant find anything.Today I checked the coolant and it looks like sludgy coffee and it was low again.I think the coolant is coming out of the tailpipes because my rear bumper (which is white) gets a splattering of some type liquid all over it.The car does smoke at wot but thats the only time.I also pulled the line that comes off of the pass valve cover and connects to the throttle body and it had white crap in it which might be normal because of condensation I dont know. When I checked my oil dipstick it looks good. besides all these problems the car runs very strong. So any opinions?
No it has never overheated. I don't feel any misfire. Yeah I'm going to have A compression test done. It's eating coolant at a slow rate but it might be the beginning of a head gasket problem.
if you're smoking and loosing coolant rather quickly with no signs of it dripping under the car, AND its all dirty, sounds like a head gasket totally. If your head gasket fails in the right place, it sucks in coolant on each intake stroke and blows burned fuel and exhaust into the cooling system on the compression and combustion. this will quickly turn your coolant a nasty color and use it up.
If you have the slightest feeling that your engine is eating the coolant and its not dripping out, then for gods sake don't drive it anymore until you have it narrowed down. there is no reason to need an engine rebuild, you may spin a bearing or it'll overheat and warp stuff.

I could be wrong, but that seems to indicate that oil under pressure is finding it's way into the water. There is no oil under pressure in the head nor in the gasket area. Depending on the options there are two places that oil under pressure can get into the coolant, the oil cooler and a crack in the block. A failed oil cooler is easily fixed, just buy a non-cooler filter adapter and reroute the coolant lines. A cracked block isn't quite as easy...obviously. I guess the first place to start is to find out what the stuff in the radiator really is...maybe it isn't even oil.
Good luck.
Good luck.
