I haven't done it, but I've heard that all the AC stuff was different even in the dash..

Im doing that exact swap right now as we speak. I have a 96 3.8 v6, I pulled the engine and front suspension out in one piece.. Just unhooked everything and took out the bolts to the kmember and strut towers and dropped everthing out. Im putting in a 96 Formula LT1 engine in. As long as you stick with the same year car, the swap will be a piece of cake. Get urself a 96 3.8 car and things should go very smooth. Here's what u have to swap out..
The driveshaft
Transmission and mounts (so far the lines look to be the same I havent hooked up the 4L60E lines to the intercooler yet.) Not sure if ur going T56.
Throttle and cruise cables
Kmember and front suspension
Engine harness and pcm
Fuel lines
Radiator
Speedometer cluster (if u dont the RPM's, oil pressure and speedo will be wacky)
The lt1 had a different AC system then the 3.8, so if u want ac, u have to swap the whole system, including the evaperator under the dash. It took me about 2hours. Its not a big deal.
I was lucky enough to have a y87 equiped v6 car. It had 3.42gears, rear disbrakes. So I didnt have to swap the rearend.
Im not sure about the traction control, my car had second gear start, I havent gotten far enough in the swap to see whats up with that.
I also deleted my air and Egr. I will be getting a custom tune to fix what i can in the PCM. (I did long tubes headers, 1.6RR's, a cam and some other goodies.)
The 3.8 rear springs will work, some guys like them better cuz they make the car squat better in take off, but u defenently need the z28 front suspension.
I went with lowering springs and some other suspension goodies, so I just used the correct stuff for a z28.
You dont have to swap the interior harness, the z28 engine harness unplugs from the interior harness on the passenger side under the pcm, right behind the firewall.
Lemme know if u have questions. I can get u pics too. https://www.camaroz28.com/forums/sho...d.php?t=672255

in all honestly itll probly b easier to find a LT1 and cheaper. Unless u love the car dearly and cant b without it. Even if its a Blown LT car. u can take everything u need out of it and swap it into urs if thats the road u wanna go down. After that its just a engine which isnt that much if ur keeping it stock.
Yeah it would probally be easier to find a Z but I only paid $500 bucks for this RS. It needs at the most $500 in body work. Ya I was planning on picking up a wrecked LT1.....know anybody that has one for sale.....i need a 97.
