moisture in the opti?!?

ok i put the motor from a 95 t/a and had to used the old opti off my old motor put it on the and motor wouldn't start it was cranking over fast and backfiring and i figured out these were the symptoms of a bad opti so we dried it out and now it starts butt idles rough and will not rev up and almost seems to bog down and die when hitting the throttle and i was told it was the opti.....i was wondering once the opti gets wet it it bad from then on out and does this seem to be my problem?

Just to make sure we understand what you did. You have a 94, with an unvented Opti, correct? You installed a 95 engine with a vented Opti, and then moved your 94 unvented Opti to the 95 engine????? We'll have to assume you swapped out all the required parts, including the timng set, timing cover, cam, and the short harness to the Opti.

If you did all that, and its not running right, there's a good chance you did not index the splined shaft that drives the unvented Opti correctly. Although everyone thinks there is only one way the teeth on the splined shaft and the cam sprocket will fit together, it is very common for the splined shaft to be inserted incorrectly, producing the symptoms you are describing.

Since you would have had to swap the timing set to install the unvented Opti, are you sure you indexed the timing chain correctly on the cam and crank sprockets?
