how many quarts of oil does a 94 z28 take is it ok if i use 5-30 i live in socal

From: Hell was full so they sent me to NJ

GM recommends 5W-30 for the LT1 in all climates. They will accept 10W-30 if the engine will not see cold starts below 0*F.
