crane gold Roller rocker fulcrum?

Witch way does the fucrum go on the stud? Flat side up or round side with machined lip up? The instructions say flat side up but why does it have a machined lip in the rounded end?

I'm not certain about the machined lip, but the flat side of the fulcrum goes up so the polylock has a flat contact surface to tighten against.

The round side with machined lip has to go up. If I install the flat sid up the 5/8 nut on the poly lock goes inside the rocker body and the rocker is still lose

I would just like to know if these are supposed to be installed with the flat side up or the round side with machined lip? Why would there be a machined lip on the round side? It looks like the lip is there for the poly lock to sit on? They are crane gold 1.6 self aligning roller rockers.

Yup took the set screw completly out, The problem is when I install a rocker with the flat part of the fulcrum up I have to screw it in alot and the hex head is just about hitting the rocker body. With the round side up the poly lock only screws down about 5 or 6 turns before zero lash.

the front rocker is at zero lash with the fulcrum flat part up

the back rocker is at zero lash with the fulcrum round part up

Seems like the hex is to close to the rocker body on the front rocker?

Flat side up. They are fine if the hex isnt touching the rocker anywhere. Yours look like all the ones I've done. Keep in mind if they are touching in the bottom where the nut touches the flat part - they are all going to be the same and have the same clearance. That isnt dependant on the adjustment unless the nut is really loose.

Also, you can get taller posilocks but then you just need taller valve covers, so they try to keep them not too high if possible.
