Piston Rings. What position do you use to place oil, 1st and second rings on piston?

No controversies here. I am using JE psitons guidance, but I found that there were allot of write ups suggesting other ways to ensure good sealing etc of the cylinder based on where some put their rings on the pistons.
Pictures, links etc will help.
I use JE strokers with ring supports, and there plasma rings up top and iron second. I was told Top ring towards camshaft, second ring 180 out towards exhaust side of head, and oil rings away from piston pins, on opposite sides one gap 45 degrees from exhaust towards front pin, and the other 45 degrees from it towards rear. And ring rail with butted ends towards front of engine with the ends right above piston pin.
Pics , diagrams etc are welcome.

As long as the top and 2nd ring are 180* different, how much does it matter where the other gaps are facing?

I know we had my rings spaced like that, but forgot to ask why.

The other rings matter as they are oil control rings, and they cant be on top of each other.

So you risk a little oil bypassing to the second ring, is that all?

I am no expert on how much. But I will tell you in a couple weeks as I just chnaged from Low tension oil rings to Standard tension rings. It produced enough oil blow by that I used a quart 500-750 miles. Std tension rings significanlty change the oil consumption. And that is just a simple few pounds of tension, imagine if the ring gaps were right on top of each other.
So I can imagine if all the experts recommend keeping the oil ring gaps away from each other they can make a difference in oil control.

Definitely makes sense. I'm glad I had someone knowledgeable build my motor. So many little details that can go wrong.
