What is this threaded hole in LT1 block

What is this threaded hole in LT1 block

It is right at the top of the block between cylinder 5 and 7

Same thing is on mine...dunno. One time I tried putting a spark plug in it while feeling around.

Its for the standard clam shell style motor mount found in earlier chevys such as my caprice.
