Need cam...have some flow numbers.

Okay fellas I need a cam. I picked up a set of heads real cheap. They came with flow numbers, but I also had em flowed locally. Here is an average off the two tests.

Lift Int. Exh.
100 75 63
150 106 85
200 138 103
250 165 115
300 190 127
350 205 137
400 216 146
450 226 152
500 237 157
550 242 161
600 246 171
650 246 175

I'm sure these aren't the best numbers in the world but I don't have much in the heads so I'm cool with it.

Anyways, I need a cam to work with these.

I don't like revving to the moon, so if I had to pick a cam I would go with the 227 or something similar. But I figured I would throw the numbers up just in case there is something better.

Anybody got any suggestions...I'm also not against a custom grind if ya'll think these heads merit that much effort. But I am trying to get this done cheap, and I'm not sure what a custom cam costs.

BTW the car has all the bolt ons, you know LTs and all that.

Thanks.

Custom cam probably isn't necessary. If you can find something close to what you want in the used section, that would be your best bet. Used HR cams have little to no wear as long as nothing got in the oil.

Another question you need to answer would be what is your SCR or compression ratio? This will determine how big of a cam you can go with, if that's what you want. A small cam I would recommend would be the CC503 and there are plenty of threads on it here. Also I'd suggest looking at the Lunati Voodoo cam lineup as they have a smaller one that should work well.

Thanks for the reply...I've been reading up on that cam and most people seem to think they are fairly equal performers but the 503 sounds better at idle, so i guess its the new pack leader.

I dunno what the CR is, I'll assume stock or damn close.

I will add some more info. It's an M6 car with 4.10s.

I maybe drove this car 20 times all last year so Daily Driver manners aren't a real big concern to me, however I don't want to hate the car. I'm also not concerned about emissions. I just don't want to wear the engine out revving it real high. I've owned the car going on 10 years and just always wanted a cam for it. If my concern was to go real fast I would start all over with a different car as I don't want to tear this one up.

Also when I say cheap as possible I really mean I'm not gonna get a new set of heads other than the ones I have. I guess I will spend money for the best cam choice and get quality supporting mods to make the valvetrain as efficient as possible, but it won't be the fastest car in the world EVER I don't want it to be. So I'm not going ridiculous with everything.

So I guess right now I'll get a 503 unless someone can convince me otherwise of another that is better. Or if someone says they can grind me one to work better for the heads.

Thanks again.

cc 503 cam is a good choice for F body using a 6 speed and that much gear. Should pull real hard to 6200-6300 RPM with those heads.

also look into the XFI 224/230 cam.
I would recommend the Lunati voodoo cam though.

The 60121 is 219/227 515/530 with 1.5s
the 60122 is 231/239 .535/.550 with 1.5's
The 60121 will be fine with your RPM
the 60122 would probably want around 6400

The 60121 seems to be ok, but that 60122 looks super aggressive. Or did I miss something?

It's aggressive, but won't beat your valvetrain to death like some other 'custom' cams I can think of...

With those #s, I would go with the 227. JMHO
