Ai Track Results - New Best/Broken Parts

Went to the 8th mile track tonight looking for the good weather. We were expecting some great air, but at the time I ran it was only around zero DA.

60' - 1.65
ET - 7.3X
MPH - 98.47

Unfortunately I only got one NA run in. As I was stopping to make the turn on the return lane, I noticed the gauges getting wierd. Then a check engine light came on and I quickly looked for the issue. Oil pressure was falling like a rock!

I pulled over quickly hoping it was just a burned sensor wire because I didn't hear my valve train getting loud. I pulled the dip stick and it was clean. I pulled the injector fuses and cranked it but no oil pressure on the gauge. I hoped for the best and cranked it over for a friend to listen to.

It started to get loud so we turned it right off. I think I stripped the oil drive gear. Too bad I couldn't get a pass in the cold weather. We were expecting -750 DA by 10pm . I think I have more in it with a better 60ft and clean shifting...it was my first pass off the trailer.

What does everyone running similar MPH trap in the 1/4? Just curious?

That is outstanding mph in the 1/8..My best was 7.10s @ 96 and some change and I went 11.20s @ 121...If your car keeps pulling I would think you'd be 11.0s-11.2s @ around 123ish, maybe high 10s if your 60' was a bit better...Definitely badass...Sorry for your breakage, though...

It all depends on what kind of top end pull your set up is capable of...Looks good to me...

Damn thats impressive as hell, expecially for a nitrous grind. Were you planning on spraying it? Hopefully your bottom end is ok.

I was going to spray the hell out of it after I dialed the suspension in. My bottle was warming in the trailer.

Only changes this time were I reloaded my NA tune with some fueling changes. My NA tune is about 2-3 degrees more timing. I use my LTCC to pull the extra timing I want out. My last 96mph 8th was with my N20 tune in about 500ft better DA.

The track was hooking like crazy that night too, lots of people with broken driveline parts. Too bad I didn't get to dial in the suspension for some 1.5s.

I've gone through a failed gear before and hopefully the outcome is the same with no other damage. Usually it fails by just slowly losing pressure which keeps things alive. Now I just need to get myself in gear and get it swaped before the good weather leaves.

OUtstanding results! That thing is flying, for sure.

That drive gear is a seriously weak link - wasn't there a post by Javier about it a little while ago?

With 94.49 MPH traps I hit a 7.222 on a 1.579 60'

Great #'s.. congrats. Now get that thing hooking harder and get her fixed.

Curious to see what your oil pressure problem turns out to be, good luck.

My cam is hydrolic. My heads are the now non offered Ai 190CC version. The cam is smaller than an LE3 with way more LSA.

I know it has a bunch more in it, but it was the first pass so I couldn't really play with it. I hooked pretty well on the first run, but it was sort of a lazy launch where the front end didn't really come up. The car just kind of rolled forward. My shifting was a bit off too.

I've gone 7.24 on 1.59 at that track and know that there is a bunch more with the recent changes. Just a matter of getting it to hook up and move out.

Good deal. I'm running a Hydraulic roller as well with my Ai heads. Can't wait to hit the track with mine. I still need to decide to put a stall in this 60e or build me a th400.

Great results! I hope your problem is a simple fix like a broken oil pump
driveshaft.

Nope, but I plan on starting to go back down there once I get my car working again. Maybe we can meet up there sometime. Until then, good luck with getting things back in order.
