Any better wires than MSD's for our cars?

It looks like I finally found my miss. I sprayed some water on my engine bay and I got a nice lightshow out of a few wires. I'm running msd wires that are only a couple years old and they have never been burnt or anything like that. I know the taylors are prone to arcing, but supposidly msd's are better. Should I just replace them with some new MSD's? I have OVC wires so I need cut to length wires.

I went from 2 month old Taylors to MSD wires to solve my arching and ignition issues. My graph was much smoother after the MSD wires. I personally won't run any other wires.

I even run them on my LTCC which many forum posts say is "bad" or "can cause problems." They have been problem free and my motor revs cleanly.

I like MagneCor wires. And if you pre-measure your lengths, they'll make you a custom set of wires.

wires are something that are more of a preference. I run msd's though, a lot of people around here do too.

Not sure if this helps any, but my current set is Accel 9000s and they seem
to work just fine. We will see how they hold up with the SLP shortys. I've
got the heads torqued and ordered my pushrods today with a next day
delivery (7.05") so hopefully I'll have them by noon tomorrow. I hope to be
running by late Sunday if I get the PCM on time.

Ditto ... Accell 9000 Extreme Heat wires with Taylor fire sleeves over the boots. I ran them in the stock locations on the driver's side, and for the passenger's side, I ran them up through the motor mount.

I was using Taylors before the Accells, and had problems with 2 different sets. The Accels have been on there since the header install (~15k miles) and still look like new; No hardening, cracking, or burn marks.

+1. All in what you want to run. But I think MSD recommends running their wires if you have any other MSD ignition products, like a coil or controller.

Of course they do, they aren't going to try and talk you into buying anything else are they?

I use these exclusively on my race/competition cars. They can take alot of heat without failure but they ain't cheap.

Not to go too far off topic, are the taylors known for having issues? Mine have been on for a little over a year with no issues yet, just trying to set up the budget now if they need to be replaced...

Where do they arch? I know my connections were good and tight.

Thanks...

I had terrible luck with Taylors, and have gone back to the MSD. I just wish they made them in a little smaller size so they'll fit in the stock wire looms.

I'll have to look into the Magnecores.

I guess I'm just lucky..I've been running the Taylor Spiro Pros since 2005 in my OTVC set up and they've been flawless...I do like the Accel 9000s also...

I've been running the magnecores with taylor fire sleeves with no problems for about 15k miles. I don't know if there are worth the expense, but i kept having trouble with my MSDs melting down.

Really though, i think it comes down to the routing. Putting in plug wires is such a pain that i used to not really think about the placement much. Once i blew the money on the magnecores i was VERY careful how i routed things. It took a little creativity an an extra couiple of hours --- i totally changed up some of the routing an used ties to make sure nothing gets even close to a primary.

I'm running a set of OEM replacement AC delco plug wires right now with no problems

I may look into the magnecores in the future though.....
