CFE Heads

So my birthday is coming up real soon and Im thinking about getting some stock heads ported by these guys or buying some Trick Flow heads and having them milled and ported by them. Have any of you heard any good things about them. These heads are going in my 355 SR and Im trying to be alittle different then having them ported the leading two head porters on the board.

I don't understand why you would choose something other than the proven best simply because you want to be different.

Other than that, all I have to contribute to your thread is a free bump.

I dont know yet. Track numbers will be answer to that question. You make it sound like a bad thing?

not that its a bad thing, but your taking a chance, a very expensive chance, when you could just go with a proven reputible company, but thats ultimatly up to you

I can't say that I have heard of CFE. But as a recommendation besides the most 2 well known on this board, maybe look into GTP. I know they were popular a couple years ago but I haven't heard much about them lately. I think ThunderRacing sells GTP ported heads. Also I noticed you are from Florida, I believe there is a porting shop in Florida somewhere called CNC "something" I can't remember the exact name but I believe a prominent member on this board has heads ported by the shop.

CNC cylinder heads are down here near me. They do nice heads. You can also try Nelson Competition Engines. I will give you his # if you want it.

Are they still in business? I'm running their heads.

With CNC Heads and a small 212/224 521/533 112 cam, my Vette was trapping 115-117 mph. Best run with a terrible 1.87 60' time was 12.37 @ 116 mph. I'm now running a 224/230 605/622 112 cam, and need to get back to the track for some times. The new cam picked up ~20 hp on the dyno.

If you are considering buying a set of the heads PM me for some problems I've experienced.

I have a set of CNC Cylinder Heads LT4's. The intake side was done very well, and adding the CNC ported LT4 intake manifold on the flow bench actually increased flow by an avg. of 3%. However the exhaust side flowed very poorly. Appeared they had hogged out the exhaust ports way too much. Both the engine shop and I tried to contact CNC about the poor exhaust results, and they refused to call us back. I wanted to talk to them because he (Pete? - can't remeber, it was 7 years ago) had made a major pitch about the necessity of flowing exhaust components on the pressure side of the bench, and I wanted to see if he thought we would get a better measure of the exhaust flow by doing that. Never got an answer, never tried it.

Their website hasn't been updated since 2002, and all the headwork links are shown as "coming soon".
