exhaust quiet like stock..

I have longtubes, dual 3" exhaust w/ Xpipe, and bullets dumped at the axle.

My car is LOUD.

I think I want quiet exhaust for a while, quiet like stock. I have a 3" Ypipe here and also have a stock catback exhaust. Here is my question--

I want my car to sound like bone stock but I have LTs and no cats. I can bolt this stock catback on the car, but it will not be quiet enough.

ideas?

You could bolt a stock single cat in there, or a restrictor plate like borla has.

but it will be considerably quieter than your dumped dual's, is there a specific reason why you want it to be so quiet- a reason worth sacrificing a good amount of power

I used to be a '95 Formula with chrome ZR1s, 315 DRs in the rear, etc. Loud *** street racer thing goin' on. Car sounded like it ran 10s and it really ran mid 12s.

The car has now been converted to a '98up WS6 T/A, is slammed, and wears staggered 19" wheels. I think it looks much classier now, but still sounds like a damn farm truck w/ cherry bombs.

I want the car to be understated now, i.e. sound stock and do 12s instead of sound like 10s and do 12s.

I am not opposed to a cutout or anything, I just want it quiet to begin with.

I don't think I will sacrifice that much HP. Car did 350rwhp with Hooker shorties, gutted cat, stock catback with a Flowmaster. Then it did 361rwhp after PS LTs, 3" Xpipe, 3" duals to 3" bullets dumped at the axle.

An 11rwhp gain on the same dyno in similar conditions. I pretty sure I gained at least half that from the the LTs alone and I figure that Flowmaster flows about as well as the stock muffler. So yeah, I figure I'll lose about 5rwhp or so by going to a stock catback and will gain most of that right back by opening the cutout.

I figure I can run the cutout right off the Ypipe, then maybe a 3" resonator before going over the axle.

I've heard a cammed LS1, w/LTs and ORY on the stock SLP dual dual catback and it was near stock as far as decible level. Dual dual or Hooker would be my choice if I wanted quiet.
Borla is pretty quiet with the plates put in it also.

I'd go with your y pipe no cat and the stock cat-back. you can put and e-cut on there when you want that sound and 10hp back.

Well first u might wanna start by replacing the dumped bullets. That would calm things down quite a bit. A nice flowmaster in the stock location will do u just fine.

I'd put your single 3" catback on, and use either a Hooker Aerochamber or Dynomax (whatever you can find with a larger case). Larger case mufflers tend to be quieter than smaller ones.
