code 36

Hi, I just installed a new opti on my car and know I am getting code 36. Wnen I first installed it the car ran good and would start right up. Now after about 2 weeks it getting hard to start but once it starts the ses light comes on and it runs good. I can tell when its not firing it will turn over for a little while and then it starts. I also checked to see if it was firing by putting a new plug in one of the plug wires. At first it didnt fire and then all the sudden it lite up real good and started. Its a brand new GM opti about 2 weeks old and was wondering if the opti is going bad.

thanks
Josh

Could be the opti electrical harness. Check it for corrosion and tightness.

Ok, thanks shoebox I will try that tommorrow. I just drove it for about 15 miles and the SES light never came on. It started right up with no problems. I also did a couple of WOT's and a few times it would miss in the higher RPM's but not all the time. My other question is if the opti was going bad again would it still run good sometimes and other times it would act up?

Thanks for the help

Where the opti is concerned, there often seems no logical explanation for symptoms. You check the basics and go from there.
