From what I've read, the Compstar's forging is overseas, but the machining/finishing is done in the US.

Yep, it's even on their website as well as I can remember. The Scat and Eagle stuff is made in China also .

If you go to Callies website, they tell you that the Comp Star forgings are from China, but machined here. Is it worth an extra $200? All I can tell you is that I bought the Stealth and I am more than happy with it. I don’t think you can go wrong with either one, spend it if you got it, save it if you don’t.

A company like Callie is not going to put their name on low quality stuff.

If you search a few resident engine builders here have commented on their experiance with the Compstar stuff and it is favorable.

I have a compstar speed pack on order for my new build. Callies told me the compstar is a QUALITY (he stressed that) piece.

I have a callies dragonslayer 3.75" crank, and Callies Compstar 5.7" rods. I was told they have been upto 1100hp without a problem acording to the rep from callies. They were the best rods out at the time without going into the big bucks Oliver setups. Umm.....not sure about their cranks though. Rods are A+ though

overkill for a street car...unless you consider 1,000+hp 'adequate' for a street car

Well, I'm a long term test dummy for Callies..I've got a Callies crank, Oliver billet steel 5.85" rods, and JE pistons in my motor...12 years and Icanttellyouhowmany track runs and 49,000 miles...If Callies put their name on it, I'd trust it...My stuff is overbuilt, though and was not cheap, but after 12 years it doesn't owe me a thing...

Yep - The compstar line is very good stuff. For a streetcar, save the money over the dragonslayer.

Good testimonial to the parts and care taken to install them.

Good point, if you use great parts but then have BillyBob's Machine Shack down the road slap it together with nothing but plastigage and a ruler for measuring tools you wont get these results.
