I've cleaned, inspected, recleaned and checked again. Everything I see says the leak is from the crank position sensor. I replaced the "O" ring - still leaks. I put a bead of "The Right Stuff" on it and reinstalled it - still leaks.

There always seems to be a drop of oil hanging from the AIR plumbing the loops under the timing cover - and sometimes a drop hanging from the bolt securing the sensor. Doesn't seem to be any on the front of the oil pan.

Does the bolt that secures the sensor pierce the cover? Could I need thread sealant? Has anyone else fought with this thing?

 

Does it actually leak enough to drip off? Mine has had the same as what your explaining for a long time where an oil droplet is almost always there just about ready to drip but I have never found a drop on the ground under the car...

 

Yea - it drips, not much - but it does. I think I actually slowed it down a bit doing what I mentioned.

BTW - Opti seal and WP seal are new. Balancer seal is not - but I have done the "finger test" multiple times and I don't come up with oil on my fingers under it.

 

I have the same annoying drip off the crank position sensor bolt. My timing cover seals are new and dry and the front of my intake is also dry. I also replaced the cps o-ring with no luck so the only thing left is maybe the seal between the timing cover and oil pan? It doesn't seem possible that oil could jump over to the cps bolt from the oil pan though.

 

Especially considering the forward motion of the car - everything wants to blow back.

Have you considered what I put in the first post? Do you have any idea if the bolt goes clean through the cover? Perhaps its weeping through the threads, I might try some thread sealant on it.

 

I have the same oil in the same spot. It is the front of the oil pan leaking. Replace your oil pan seal since you've done everything else already.

I damaged my seal pulling the timing cover (it was so adhered to the cover I couldn't get it off smoothly). It looks like it's coming from the CPS but, for me, its my pan seal. Could be yours as well.
