Question bent a rod!!(pics) any ideas

ok about a week ago i left a bar i was at and started my car, immidiatly on start-up a load knocking started, had no choice so i just drove it home(half an hour!!!) and to work to pull the motor(15 mins)

pulled the motor and found this

any ideas what may have caused this

it was raining really hard while i was inside but not when i started the car, i was thinkin maybe a stuck open injector

and i am really suprised the rod bent like that and did not break, especially after driving it so long after it bent

Wow.
Has the engine ever sucked up water, this can hyappen cause water will not comnpress so the rod bends. Stuck injector or too much fuel should not do that.

Are you stock or do you have big HP?
Do you have an aftermarket CAI?

sorry i forgot to post this the only mods to the car is a magnaflow catback

i was thinkin a stuck open injector filling the cylinder with fuel while i was inside and bending the rod on start up because that will not compress

on a side note from stock to 355 le2 is not proving to be cheap but im hoping to have it back on the road in a couple weeks

Just about had to have been water or fuel in the cylinder. There should have been a noticeable "bump" in the rotation of the engine with the starter the first time it was cranked around.

I disassembled a very low mileage LT1 a few years ago that had the twin to that rod. There was no indication of water in the cylinder so I hypothesized that the cylinder had filled with fuel. All the other cylinders were pristine.

Do you have a CAI into the fender? Did you notice whether or not you were parked in a puddle? Have you tested the injector to see if it leaks? Were all of your wits about you when you came out of the bar?

Same thing happened to the guy I bought my z from, he started it and immidately got a knock. One of the rods looked just like yours but a lil more pretzled, my and my engine builder tested out the fuel injectors and 2 were stuck open so we are assuming that was to blame.
