i got a pair of trickflows i was thinkin about gettin the xfi 467 cam and lifter package just wondering if i should go bigger or smaller
they say the springs are good till 600 so i was def lookin for at the xfi line

It's definitely going to have some lope with that cam. It will take advantage of those heads but you might need to do some tuning to get it right. I've used that on a bunch of 383's that run really well. Perfect size for a 383 street car but IMO about 5 degrees too big for a daily driven 350.
Trickflow themselves says to reverve those heads for boost and strokers. They will drop compression on a stock shortblock which is the wrong way to go for NA use.
The XFI grinds are designed specifically to take advantage of the capabilities of beehive springs so expect valve control issues if you try to use the springs that cmae in the Trickflows.
There is more to springs than seat pressure and lift capacity.
I would agree that cam is too big and go a step further and challenge you to find examples of the XFI gronds actually performing.

Honestly I would shelve those heads till you can do a shortblock to compliment them. Lowering compression while trying to do a cam is the wrong way to go.
More duration will generally hurts lowend, compression helps get it back.
The 503 is a decent cam but even with that I would rather see someone increase compression rather than drop it.
You can get the heads heavily milled and then deal with intake mating but IMO not worth the hassle.

they make a shaved version of the trickflows with smaller combustion chambers like 55cc instead of 62cc but someone told me they bump you past 11.1 so no 93 pump gas. last month i found a good deal on ported 62cc trickflows so i picked em up

stock cc is wat 54 and the trickflows are 62 so if i got them milled down how much would they have to get milled to while still gettin the most out of them ?
and is milling the heads smart or should i just save and stroke her to 383 396 or turbo or sumtin ?

Cranking compression is 225-230psi
. I remember when I thought magazines had decent info and on gen 1 builds they claimed 180-190psi cranking was the max on 93 octane. The LT1 breaks a lot of the old rules, not just the reverse flow cooling but the injection that makes it possible to run compression like this.
What is it exactly about the stock LT intake that causes a lack of cylinder fill? Can this be corrected by porting the heads or intake or even with a bigger cam?
