93Z w/blown LT1

The car has actually been sitting for a year. I want to have it crushed. But, that is hard to do. I over heated the thing and it cut out. The water pump sprung a leak and the gauge reading was off. It was a real nightmare. The motor had 130K mile on it and was running great. The day it overheated I was at highway speed and while I exited the thing got real choppy. It was still running when I cut it off, but barely. I have no mechanical inclination. So, there is no chance of me pulling apart the motor. Any suggestions?

Thanks

Where are you from ? Might be able to have someone local point you in the right direction. Otherwise, id say part out the car. You dont have to know how to work on cars to unbolt functioning parts and sell them online.

I am from Wharton, TX. Thats about 35 miles south west of Houston. Yes, I know your right. I called a few well known places in Houston, and a guy told me no one wants to work on the LT1. Especially the 93.

Could I sell the whole car for a salvage yard?

You'd be better off to part the car out in the For Sale section here and make a ton more money than any junk yard will ever give you.

I'm not sure if you have the money to do it, but I'd say now is your chance to rebuild the engine the way you want it. Or just buy a crate, I'm sure you could find a decent price on this forum. Sucks to hear about an LT1 dying out like that. Good luck!

List the car as a parts car on Ebay if you do not want to part it. Junkyards will typically not give you more than $100-$150 for it depending on location.

Install a used engine in the car and drive it.

since you're in texas, there is an F-body salvage yard near san antonio. You could do as above and get an engine. its a bit of a drive, maybe 2.5hrs from where u are.

its hpsalvage.com if u are interested.

Another vote for engine from a junkyard, youl'l need to swap the intake manifold and thats about it (try to get a 95 engine) if you get a 96 or 97 youl'l need to swap knock sensors and either plug the cps hole, leave the cps in place unplugged or get a 95 timing cover (recomended either plug or leave in place as that way you dont have to deal with the gasket). Intake will be fairly easy if you do it off the car, knock sensor is nothing and the cps issue is not that big of a deal if you just plug/leave in place. I would recommend taking the injectors from the newer engine because they should be rated higher than the 93s injectors, the only downside is you should get a tune if you do this. For the most part everything will bolt up after that.

Well, I am going to part it or sell it. I've posted in the sale section and the camera is on the charger; so I'll get pics. I've had the car since Nov. 97, and I always wanted to paint it orange and make it faster. It really is a good car. The F-Body is a little heavy, but with a stiffer suspension and just a little bit more power I would have been content.

I have 17X9 O.Z. Monte Carlo wheels for sale. These wheels are nice. IMO among the best looking for the F-body. These wheels went out of production in 1997.

Thanks,
