I Need Timing Chain Help

im building a new lt1 with an electric wp. this is a 94 style setup and has a 94 cover. What timing chain should i be using that is the most cost effective. Ive done the searches but they dont help me with which one i should use. Thanks alot for any input

Unless you convert to a vented opti, you are virtually stuck with having to use a stock timing set.

oh thats fine, im just wondering what the replacement part number would be for a cloyes or something of that sort

I used a set made by s.a. gear out of chicago Ill. You can order it from parts america online. it was 130.00 . and it was made in the U.S.A. . Be very carefull of junk being sold on ebay.

They might, but I am not sure Cloyes even makes a stock type set for unvented optis in the aftermarket. Though, I think the stock set may actually be made by Cloyes. They make a lot of GMs stuff.

so i even have to use a stock replacement if not using a conventional stock wp???

It's the non-vented opti that is now keeping you from other choices. People with vented optis only have to change to an EWP to be able to use other types of timing sets. You still have to drive the non-vented opti with the stock type cam gear.

I got a stock replacement from the dealership for $135 a month ago, but that was with a 10% student discount I think it was $150 without the discount

just got mine a bit ago, i think it was around 100 for the chain, cam sprocket, crank sprocket.
