cutting out at high RPM

cutting out at high RPM

i was getting on the interstate and i gave it some gas and right around 4500 it felt like it cut out and then agian at 5500 and then it shifted so i got off the interstate and got on it agian samething was going on. ihave new plugs and wires could this be the opti. or anything else..

It could also be the ICM or coil getting heat soaked or a fuel pressure issue or clogged fuel filter. But yes, it could also be the opti.

mine does same thing. I just replaced the opti, and although it feels much stronger, it didnt fix the issue. One plug wire on mine is bad because it was rubbing on ps pump, so might check your wires again. Im gonna throw a new coil on soon too, so you might want to check that out too. If those don't fix it, then id say fuel related or opti, better hopes it not the latter. Not to hijack the thread, but can a bad wire or coil going bad really make it cut out that bad 4K + rpms?

Absolutely, the higher the RPMs the faster the system has to work.

ill check the wires tomorrow morning. i was thinking it was the coil. its easy for me to change.

He meant better hope it's not the opti. Making a comparison. Former and latter of a given choice.
