MAF Screen

i have the cat delete on my 94Z A4 with the LM1. i was wondering if i were to take off the screen on the MAF would it make somewhat of a difference considering i have the cat delete? would breathe a little bit better? or is it not worth it? and what would i need to take off the screen. what tools would i need. thanx guys

Leave it. Do a search on screen or descreening and there is plenty to read.

Leave it in. But if your still not convinced after searching, remove the C-clip to take the screen out, so you can at least put it back in when you realise youll never know for sure if later problems are because of an inaccurate maf

oh isn't this considered a free mod? it "helps" out your performance?

It is, but I don't know if there have been documented gains and if it did provide a gain, it would be so small that it would be unnoticed. The only free mods I would consider doing would probably be the ICM cooling mod and the TB Bypass.

Years ago i bought a product from IRS that had no screen/divider and my car definitely lost low end tq! I have had no problems w/ my stk one.BTW i just got pcm tuned and tuner said he could tune for it but the calibration,etc is unknown,so stick w/stocker.Also i didn,t have a LT1 scanmaster back then but i can sayi was probably too lean.

mine ran the exact same. no problems but alos no "felt" gain. so i would leave it in.

i actually heard its for the turbulance of the air flow. the honey comb shapes straighten the air out from coming in so fast giving you a smoother air flow. i wished i left mine in.
