Hot temps vs. cooler temps for drag racing

Last year I was able to run a best of 13.01 at around 106.5MPH, it was the middle of August and prolly around 90 degrees outside. I am planning on going back for the first time this year on this friday. Weather.com says a low of 45 degrees. This is going to be a night event so It will be MUCH cooler outside this time around then the last time I was there in August. Now, the point of this thread was to get some responce from guys who took there car to the track when it was hot outside and then ran again later on when it was much cooler. I would like to know what the differance in your times where compared to the hot weather. If u could remember ure times with hot and cold temps as well as approx what the outside temp was on the differant runs that would be great. Sorry if this thread seems retarded, I am just curious. I put this in the LT1 section bc it deals with the performance of the LT1 in hot and cold temps. If u feel the need to move it then please do so. Thanks alot guys. Dustin.

The motor will perform better with cooler temperatures. The other factors are barometric pressure and humidity. The drier the air and the higher the pressure is also better.

Plus's to hotter outside temps are prolly a little better traction. Downside is that hot of air you cant get the max hp out of your car most likly. There as cold temps will gain ya a little bit in the power area but not in the traction, but if you have good tires I wouldnt worry about the traction part too much.

Thanks guys. I pretty much know about how all the factors effect the car. I just wanted some examples of how people did while racing in these 2 differant factors.

Depending on the Baro differences too and if you hook weather can easily make for a .5 difference even more.

My car tends to fluctuate within 3 tenths, from summer to winter.

If the only difference is the 45*F air temp reduction, you'll see about a 9% increase HP. With that, you should pick up 3/10ths and a bit less than 3 MPH.

Yea I am looking forward to going to the track this Friday. Its called "Freaky Friday" its starts at about 6pm and goes on throughout the night, and I am talking ALL night. So its gonna get real nice and crisp outside, as apposed to the last time I was there (90+ degrees and very high humidity) so hopefully I will finally be able to get my 12 second run (see sig for current fastest time). Thanks guys.

The car will def make more hp in the colder weather. The main problem with racing when it gets down around 40deg is the track prep. It is much harder to keep the track hooking when it is cold outside.
