Anyone replace engine harness w/ engine in car?

I messed up big time on engine swap and cut the harness that goes into the firewall on the computer side. There are like 50 wires, many of them are the same color So I bought another harness of the same year and by the looks of it it doesnt look like a pretty swap but I certainly dont want to drop the engine out again. I guess im just looking for some encouragement seeing if anyone has done this before.

Hey Mike, its Stephen, the one you got the ls1 brakes and that stuff off of. Honestly it is fairly easy but a lil time consuming, I did it on my '94 as i didnt feel like hooking everything up when I put the engine in, it took me about 2.5 hours working slow and ziptying checking all the connections, hope that helps.

Engine in or out of the car-it's not going to make a lot of difference.

Shouldn't be a big deal. Most everything connects up top, only a few wires from the harness fish down towards the bottom and back.
