Took heads off the change head gaskets and have ?'s
To make a long story short, I bought a 94z8 motor with 39,000 miles it to throw in my 95 Impala SS. The motor sat for 8 years before I GOT IT. I threw in the lt4 hotcam kit before I put it in the motor. I dropped it in my imp and after I had about 10 minutes of run time(no drive) I dropped the filter to find alot of antifreeze in it.
Well this weekend I tore the top end off to change the head gaskets. I don't see anything wrong with the head gaskets. They are a little deteriorated in some spots but they are not worn through or into the rings or anything. Can you always see where they are bad? I am going to have my heads checkd after work today to see if they are cracked.
Are there anymore ways antifreeze can get in oil besides head gasket, cracked head, or cracked block? Anyway to have any cooling hoses mixed up?
Thanks
Brandon

Impossible to say if the internal leak is from a crack or a gasket sealing problem. The other big issue is, did you trash the bearings? If it were mine, I would pull it and pop in bearings after establishing that the block is good. The block and heads need to be pressure checked.

I would hope that the bearings wouldn't have been ruined after a couple minutes of run time, if that. This motor is not coming back out yet. I guess if the heads come back ok then I will just clean everything really good and throw everything back together and hope for the best. If something else happens I will pull it and build something better.
