Need help about stall and low power.
Need help about stall and low power.
OK, well here's what happened. I absolutely had to drive it in heavy rain since my wife had our beater and I needed to drive to pick up her brother. Anyways, I was driving it probably about 45 minutes in moderate rain and got to the dealership to pick up her brother.
Everyone was leaving at the same time and being stupid and I was waiting stopped trying to get into a parking space. Anyways my foot slipped off the clutch and dropped it at a dead stop and it stalled pretty hard. It didn't want to start up after that it too maybe 15-20 seconds of cranking then it fired up like normal.
It stalled again on a light take-off trying to get out of the dealership and again at a red light. Both of the later stalls it started right back up again.
It seems like it's down on power a little on low rpms until about 2500 then it seems fine I think. I was having a hard time breaking the tires loose on wet pavement unless I was cornering in 1st gear.
The thing is though is the roads are so damn wet that I cant get on it to definitavely tell wether or not anythings wrong with it. It doesn't seem like it's missing and it has a nice healthy sound to it still all the way up to redline.
I just dont know... any thoughts? Need more info? What should I check... man this car has me so paranoid I just want to know if it's alright... and not worry about it.

And if it's any consolation I had it to a mechanic that I trust and am good friends with. He was checking out my exhaust manifold leak which it's had since I bought it. He also pulled out the pushrods to make sure they were straight since I didnt know any of the previous owners. I swear ever since he did that it didn't pull as hard as when I first got it, but that could just be me getting accustomed to it. I wish I had some previous experience with LT1s so I knew what they normally are supposed to feel like.
Nevermind, it just must be new car jitters. Either that or something is getting heat soaked or wet... hopefully not the optispark.
I just took it for a hour drive and did everything from cruise around with light take-offs to getting on it hard shifting at redline. No problems losing traction and despite being wet and not hooking up I still pulled about a 6.5 sec 0-60 (lost traction after 3.5k rpms up to about 5k and also on the 1-2 shift).
Or maybe that's how the mod bug starts... you just feel like it's not going fast enough so you need to keeping buying parts to speed it up... lol
Now I just need time to give it a really great clean, waste a tank of gas getting to know it... who knew family and work keeps ya from enjoying your toys... (wait I already knew that)... *sigh*
Thanks for letting me rant guys... I'm hijacking my own thread and getting off topic...

You know what else I was thinking? Since I'm just talking to myself here...
Does an exhaust manifold leak on #7 near the flange cause enough noise for the knock sensor to hear and have the PCM pull timing? And would it feel that weak as I thought it felt earlier?
I'm thinking that's probably a "yes!".
Ok... so what do I need to datalog? I can borrow my wife's laptop... uhm so I'd just need a OBDII data cable? How much are those things and where to buy? What program could I use (free preferably... lol)?
Then I'd actually need to find the time to do this... what is a good way to datalog (how to drive and for how long) so people can get a good amount of data? Man I'm such a newb
