Porting intake to 58MM and still using a 52MM TB ?

I'm getting ready to tear down for a piston problem and want to take advantage of the opportunity as much as I can for other things. If I port my intake to 58mm, can I continue to use my Edelbrock 52mm until I go bigger with heads/cam and have more of a need for a 58mm or is that a crazy idea?

Our cars came from the factory with an intake bore that was larger than the throttle body diameter. I don't think it would hurt you to take advantage of the oppurtnity.

Your question was "can I continue..., and my response was "yes".

When you pose a question that has a conjunction in it giving the responder an option instead of just asking a question w/o options, you leave the responder with the option of answering all of the options----in this case, you ask "can I...." and then you end it with "or is that a crazy idea....?

In essense, my response, to wit: "Yes" actually could be my response to both the options, or "yes" you can do it and "yes" it is a crazy idea.

It was your assumption that my answer was "yes" to the option----it is a crazy idea.

Now do you think my response here was necessary or do you like girls?

You'll need to know what BRAND 58 throttle body you might go to. I have a 58mm AS&M TB and a Holley 58mm TB. With the Holley, the 58mm ports are "on center" in relation to the factory TB and exisiting 52mm holes in the intake. However, the AS&M 58mm TB had its holes drilled OFF CENTER as compared to the stocker. Just something to consider.

bubba, you're deep man.
