knock module??

I just bought a LT4 knock module and am going to install it in my 95Z. I was reading throught computer threads and read that this module might not work in my car because my car has a OBD1 PCM. Is this true????THANKS!!!

Thanks!!!! I was just reading throught old threads on computer programing and read that the OBD1 PCM is looking for a different voltage than the OBD2.

I was just to shoebox's website and that answered it to!!!! It's a great site!!!!!!!

Works fine... I monitored it with my ScanMaster when I installed it in 1998.

You may have confused the knock module with the knock sensor. Its the knock sensor that has a different resistance for OBD-I (4.5Kohm) and OBD-II (100Kohms) and can't be interchanged.

If you have a 94-97 LT1, there's a small cover on the PCM that needs to be removed, to unplug the stock module and install the LT4 module. If you have a 93 you don't have a knock module and you can't install one.

Why not add a "signature" with basic info about your car, like the year, model, tranny, any major mods? After several months and 200+ posts it would seem the need to provide this basic info and help people help you is apparent.

I read on another forum that the LT4 KM is designed to work with the OBD2 knock sensors.

But a ton of people have installed them on OBD1 computers, so regardless of whether it is supposed to work that way or not, plenty of people have done it and it seems to work.

It's possible that some or all of the improvement we see when installing them in OBD1 computers is because of the KS mismatch.

The KS section in my service manual is completely unhelpful here... Does the KS output basically go straight into the KM, or does the PCM read the KS output and then send some other signal to the KM?
