Problem narrowed down to OPTI or PCM but need further help
Disregard below. I have a broken timing chain, hence no opti signal...
Shoebox's OPTI and Spark Test was used to determine I am not getting a 1-4 volts AC to my ICM. From there, I replaced the opti with another I had but was fine when I stopped using it (so I think, it's been 3 years).
I turn over the engine to again check the voltage AC going to the ICM but still nothing. One thing I did smell however was fuel as I had the MAF off and the TB was right there next to my nose. The seems to be PCM is sending signals to the injectors. Note: no codes thrown. However on this vein, I have understood the following: If the computer doesn't get any timing reference, it won't pulse the injectors, and it won't fire the plugs. If this is true, then the problem is from my PCM to my ICM.
Is there any chance my problem is the PCM? I assume not because if I had fried it, not even the fueling would be working. Ran datamaster while it was turning over. It showed no BPW on either side. This contradics smelling gas however.
Please confirm next step is brand new opti with new harness... Any way to check the optical encoder on the OPTI?
Update: I reflashed my PCM and the programming took. It initially did not want to read but then when I tried again, it read the PCM so I reflashed after reading. Still only cranks with no spark.
