no front plate....
no front plate....
How many of you guys have no front plate?
I went through a road block last night, and the officer asked 'where's your front plate??'
i said 'ohhhh... hmmm, at home??'
he said 'thats not a very good place for it... please go home and put it on.... otherwise it could be 50 or 60 dollar ticket next time!'
First time in 7 years that police have said anything
I've gone through dozens of road blocks, gotten many tickets, etc... but now they tell me...
anyone else still holding out?

Re: no front plate....
In my state, front plates are required, but of course I'm not running one. I have never had a cop pull me over for it, but I'm sure if I was pulled over for speeding, he would write me a citation for both speeding and the absence of a front plate. Its not like we had the privelage of having a front license plate bracket from the factory.
Re: no front plate....
I've only been hassled once for not having one.
The officer actually pulled me over on the freeway for it.
I didn't get a ticket or anything.......all I had to do was put it on in front of him - good thing I always have it in the car with me, and a screwdriver to do it.
I told him I was recently in Alberta for a while and took it off there, and simply forgot to put it back on.
As soon as I got home - it came back off.
That was four years ago, never been a problem before that or after that.

Once at a roadblock, told me to put it on I said sure right when I get home. If u come up on a roadblock, just ride the guys bumper in front of you so they don't see..worked many times for me.
Re: no front plate....
My caddy did not even have a plate holder.
i just came accross a road block and they gave me a warning to present the car to the RCMP with a plate and the window tint removed.
i told told her that I bought the car used and that it did not even have a plate holder so i just figured. "what the hell".
i just spent $33 to buy a plate holder and had it installed.
The tint is not removed yet though.
she told me the fine would normally be $96 for each infraction.

Re: no front plate....
I was rockin no front plate and side window tint until a cop pulled me over and wrote me up. Just a warning where i haveta go show the cops that i made the changes etc. Put one on since. Removed my side window tint.
Just left it on. After years of tickets i just leave it on. It helps. cause then i dont give them an excuse to pull me over.
Then they wanna know why i have 2 bats and an axe in my car lol

Re: no front plate....
I actually have a funny story about mine....
One time, i parked a little too close to my garage door, then opened it, and it pulled the plate off, with the mounting bracket, screws and all - no kidding. It didn't hurt anything, it just pulled it out. I've been stopped once and warned for it; I think the cop got a kick out of my "reason" for it not being there. The bumper was cracked and needed replaced anyway; I've since done that and repainted the whole car. The license plate and bracket sits in my trunk.
Anyway, does anyone here have any insight as to why the hell some states/provinces require a front plate and some don't? Because I can't think of a "logical" reason and it's kind of a pet peeve of mine. Why can't these @#$%ing people get together and either all require them or don't require them?
One thing I can think of is that a license plate gives a "flat spot" on the front of our cars for pigs to aim their radar guns at.
