what can cause a timing chain to stretch in 2,000 miles?
just wondering what can cause a timing chain to stretch in 2,000 miles specifically a cloyes double roller. is it made to stretch so much, or is something not right?
Re: what can cause a timing chain to stretch in 2,000 miles?
I would think the most likely cause would be lack of lubrication. This would cause over heating and stretch. There should be signs, like galling on the rollers and gear. Only other thing I can think of is the one off bad gear set.

no real signs or anything. it just had some slack in it...plenty more than the one cloyes DR i got. so a bad bearing or anything can't stretch it out? something out of balance messing it up?
