Best pull was 376 rwhp....
car seems to be mis-firing or something around 5300 rpms or so..it -sounded- smooth on the dyno, it wasn't sputtering or anything. i have a mail order tune from madz28. i was hoping for 400 rwhp. i think if i get this mis-fire straightened out, i will be pretty damn close to 400. then a dyno tune will hopefully put me around 415-420 or so...what ya guys think?

thats a lot of cam for LE1 heads. the heads are probably slowing you down as well.

I don't know where Imperial is but if I end up there I'll know not to race you ...

Re: my dyno #'s / chart LE Heads/357 ci.

Are you sure the LE1 heads flow that much. His higher end heads flow in the upper 270's, I can't believe the stage one's flow that much. I think they should be around 250 or so, right?

Also, why stock compression? You could be running at least a point more compression (11.5) on pump gas. There's 3-5% more power right there.

Possibly he did not give the flow at the correct lift...?

Re: my dyno #'s / chart LE Heads/357 ci.

looks like its breaking up after 5200 or so...
you could probably also use some 36lb injectors

tuning will definately bring out more in it!!

ya they are le1 heads, well i got them like a year and a half ago and i think since then they got a little more -tame- if you could say. i think the le1 heads is just p+p. i got the p+p job + the larger valves..so maybe le2.
my engine builder as well as combination motorsports said not to run any higher than 11:1 on pump gas. going to check my logs now to see if it is fuel related or ignition related..

Re: my dyno #'s / chart LE Heads/357 ci.

seems to be a whole lot of variation in power. i understand you will lose some cause those 3 runs were done in like 3 minutes...but the 2nd and 3rd run had substantially more area under the curve in the lower rpms. as for the breaking up, did you datalog at all, or notice any black "puffs" of smoke through the tail pipes? looks like possible spark retard.

as for your 400rwhp estimation, i do believe with the stutter issue resolved you could be looking at the 390 range. and a dyno tune you should be where you are looking to be. honestly, that cam, and those heads, i would expect to be no less than 420. but it depends on your accompanying mods (such as get a ported intake) and it also depends on weather conditions there aswell, SAE numbers are good to compare, but actual conditions are what will affect your motor. just to say, it could be a cold day, and youre running a little leaner, and it gives ya that umph, and toss a little spark retard in there, the SAE numbers wont account for your computer pulling timing.

and for your compression, they might be referring to your DCR, not SCR. i would get in contact with them and find out.

not exactly, ive seen a pair of his heads flow less then advertised. i think his bench might be a little optimistic.

Your injectors are delivering enough fuel. It is running a bit rich for a little while, but leaning that out won't make a big difference. Maybe 10 RWHP at the most. You have some other issue at higher RPM. Looks most likely ignition related.

Re: my dyno #'s / chart LE Heads/357 ci.

ya i did data log them, had my dad look at it tonight..he's an ase tech.
looks like it IS ignition related, not fuel. the car has the original coil at 135,000 miles..going to replace that and then go from there...
any suggestions on coils? just get an ac delco one?

I would use only an OEM AC Delco replacement...especially in a 96-97 since the stock coil is very good. None of the aftermarket ones seem to last too long.
