Stock 97 camaro. What should i do!?

I think I am going to be purchasing a stock 1997 Camaro 30th Anniversary car soon. Only modifications is the system (head unit, amp, and 2 10's). I am 16 so a V8 swap won't work. But what can I do to this car (from home if possible) to make it as fast as possible? I have a budget, but this will be a long term project.
I'm going to look at it this week so i dont know if it is an RS car or not. But it is a v6, automatic, and has t-tops.

My sister has a 94 Z28 that I want to be able to outrun Or my 75 LT car.

So let me know.

Thanks

well, without a ton of money it will never be "fast" but you can definately wake it up a bit. Start with the usual, intake and exhaust. You can spend as little as 200 for both of these or as much as 1500, depending on what you go with. You could always spray it with a 75 shot, but being 16 I wouldn't because youre not going to have the money to replace a blown engine if you have a nitrous backfire or anything else goes wrong. Do a search here, there is TONS of info.

Id start saving a lot of money

The traditional bolt ons would be a start, but I believe on average these cars run mid-high 15s stock. Youll probably outrun your '75 bone stock. The Z28 on the other hand is a different beast.

Considering that youll probalby want to run atleast a 14.0 just to keep up with your sisters Z, assuming its stock, youre lookin at quite a hp increase. nitrous, heads/cam or forced induction.

Just out of curiosity, why not make your '75 LT fast? It has the capability to go much faster for much less money. Plus you say youre lookin for a long term project, the '75 seems perfect.

It'd be my advice that if you have one car that is a reliable daily driver, dont mod it more than bolt ons. Once you tear into the motor you reliability tends to go down.

Well, the 75 is my dad's project car with me. But I'm going to drive this car as a daily driver. I just think that since I'm used to the 75 that I'm going to need some extra power. I figured CAI, MAF, exhaust, high-flow cats, and headers would do some good? I really don't want nitrous/turbo/superchargers on it... Seems like more trouble than it's worth.

oh wow jay that is your site? Sweet. I been looking at it quite a bit debating on getting something from there.

But the original topic... yeah just go with basic stuff... Headers.. K&N Filter.. Cold Air Intake.. Magna Flow/Flowmaster.. Take out the cat if its not illegal in your town.

Nevermind i thought LMPerformance was your site LOL

Links to self-owned "For Sale" websites, is still considered advertising.

If you wish to sell items to board members, why not be considerate of the rules of the website, and become a sponsor.
